The Aldergrove Agricultral Association

The Aldergrove Agricultural Association was founded nearly a hundred years ago in 1910. It's sole pupose is to encourage and support Agriculture learning and growth within our town.

Every year we do many fund raisers and many events in the community. The Bowling Nights, the Aldergrove Fair itself and many others. They are designed to support our two goals at this time.

#1 - To continually provide bigger and better educational displays each year that teach agriculture, where our food comes from, and how it's prepared , the aspects and benefits of Rural Life.

#2 - To build up the funding to purchase Fair Grounds. Many years ago, when the town of Aldergrove needed a park, The Agricultural Association graciously donated their fair grounds to the Township. Many years have passed since then and it's still our mission today to replace it.

When the fair grounds are officially purchased, our goals are to give 4H kids a place to go, allow the community to access it, and provide a place to educate young and old.

## Year 2007

We've now teamed up with the Aldergrove Festival Days Society and although our goals haven't changed, it's always been our main goal to bring the community together and support the pride and culture of Aldergrove as a town. We feel by joining the Festival Days Society's efforts, we can really make one amazing weekend that is sure to be fun for any age!

The B.C. Renaissance Festival

Established in May 2005, the BC Renaissance Festival is a new and unique tourist attraction that promises to provide the Lower Mainland with a spectacle never before seen in BC. Our goal is to establish a permanent site in the Lower Mainland, to provide opportunities for local performers, artisans, and craftspeople to display their talents, and to entertain the public in a way that no other venue in BC has presented before. Basing our format on the already well established Renaissance Festival circuit known throughout the United States , we can expect interest and attendance from a large cross section of the public, and establish a new local branch of a steadily growing interest group.

Taking visitors back 500 years to the time of King Henry VIII, in the fictional village of Steller 's Grove, the BC Renaissance Festival is filled with the charm and fantasy of Olde England with stages, games, rides, food, and vendors. Roaming characters, street performers, and an ensemble cast, provide guests with a spectacle to remember, and a storyline to follow throughout the day. Comedy and musical performers present their talents on our stages, with shows every hour of the day. The Royal Games Field provides kids of all ages with games, activities, and rides with a Renaissance flair. All rides are man-powered, adding to the spectacle. The Foode Court provides guests with foods inspired by the Renaissance, and the vendors throughout the Festival display and sell their hand-crafted and unique articles. Visit our Tavern, The Frog and Fiddle Inn, for a taste of Olde English Mead and Ales, as well as a musical finale to close each day.

This year's festival is our Debut Event. With the help of Aldergrove Fair Days, we are presented with an opportunity to provide local tourism with a unique location to visit. Many Festival visitors in the US travel to several faires worldwide each year, including Ontario , and this would give them a new opportunity to explore, and bring more tourism dollars to British Columbia .

The first Renaissance Festival in North America was started over 50 years ago in Southern California , and still operates today. Since then there have been many festivals started, and many are still in operation to this date. With the success of this year's event, we look forward to establishing ourselves as a permanent fixture in British Columbia 's Tourism Industry for many years to come, and providing a location for special events, parties, and film shoots as well!
